Background: |
Chittagong, the country's second-largest commercial hub, hosts significant economic activities, prompting Bangladesh Railway to leverage its resources, including vast land and infrastructure, to expand social services, notably through the construction of a modern medical college & hospital and nursing institute on a PPP model at the existing Chittagong Railway Hospital compound, to address the limited availability of modern healthcare facilities in the region, with in-principal approval granted by the Cabinet Committee for Economic Affairs (CCEA) on 14 August 2013, aiming to serve the health needs of both railway employees and the general public.
