Background:

The Project has primarily been planned to be developed in around 47 acres of land at the Karail Basti of Mohakhali in Dhaka. The site is a fully developed land with significant number of squatters (around 30,000) currently occupying it. The site area can be accessed by several roads or by water across Gulshan Lake. There is one main road through T & T colony and four semi pucca access roads. Besides, there are about 10/15-foot paths or lanes in the project area. In terms of utility connections, electricity and water lines are available in the site. Bangladesh Hi-tech Park Authority (BHTPA) has planned to develop numbers of Information and Technology (IT) Village and Software Technology Parks (STP) in divisional level for enhancement of IT activities as part of Vision 2021 and “Digital Bangladesh” program. The area under consideration is owned by BHTPA/Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology (MoPTIT).

  • To establish world class business environment in IT sector, especially for foreign investment.
  • Generation of employment opportunities through developing IT sector.
  • To enhance competencies of the local IT/ITES industries.
  • To enrich exports of IT products and services
