Background: |
Paksey is a town situated in Ishwardi Upazila at Pabna District under Rajshahi Division of Bangladesh. It is a Divisional City of Bangladesh Railway. It is located on the bank of the Padma River (Ganges). Hardinge Bridge is a steel railway bridge established here named after Lord Hardinge, who was the Viceroy of India from 1910 to 1916. In addition, the Lalon Shah Bridge, a road bridge, crosses the Padma at Paksey. Paksey is a Railway Divisional Town.
Paksey is a division of Bangladesh Railway (BR). There is also an EPZ nearby. For this reason it is an important area of that region. There are 10 railway hospitals in different places for providing medical support for railway employees. The location of this hospital is at the heart of the city. There are sufficient unused lands adjacent to the hospital. The utilization of this unused land recommended by a committee formed by Bangladesh Railway for establishing a medical college under PPP.
But, Railway Hospital in Paksey is the only hospital available in the vicinity, which needs to be modernized to cope with the demand. There is also demand for quality Medical Education. Establishment of Medical College requires vast area of land. BR can provide hassle free vast land to establish Medical College Hospital. Hence, the project will attract numerous of Private entrepreneur’s.

- To render medical services to common people as well as BR’s employees
- To increase revenue earning of Bangladesh Railway.
- To introduce Public Private Partnership in Bangladesh Railway.

- Construction of medical College of seat capacity 50.
- Balancing, Modernization, Rehabilitation and Expansion (BMRE) of existing Railway Hospital from 82 beds to 250 beds like Apollo, United and Square Hospital.
