Background:
The Dhaka East West Elevated Expressway Project (DEWEEP), spanning approximately 39.0 kilometers, aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the capital by providing a signal-free expressway linking major highways N5, N1, and N8, facilitating improved transport links across the country and enhancing connectivity as part of the Asian Highway Network, while implementing a tolled system suitable for motorized traffic excluding CNGs and non-motorized vehicles for safety and capacity reasons.
Objective:
Passenger buses & goods-carrying vehicles coming from northern districts to take a direct route to Dhaka-Chattogram highway, avoiding traffic congestion in Dhaka.
Project Scope:
- Crossing 03 Major Rivers (Kundarchar, Buriganga & Shitalakhya)
- Touching 05 Upazila (Savar, Keraniganj, Fatullah, Siddhirganj and Bandar)
- Touching 48 Mouzas
